STUDENT RECREATION

Atlanta is a vibrant, exciting city. At ESL Instruction, we want to make sure students get out and experience it. That's why we have programs, both formal and informal, to help students enjoy their time here.

FIELD TRIPS

Once each term, we take a day off from studies to do something fun together in a group. Here are a few of the places that we have gone on typical field trips...

In the spirit of autumn, students and teachers spent a day at Kennesaw park playing football (yes, American football), eating fried chicken, and hiking through the colorful leaves.

We journeyed to a local peach farm to pick Georgia's most famous fruit right off the tree. Then, at a nearby state park, we rented canoes and explored a peaceful lake.

Lake Lanier offered us a cool shady place for this summertime barbeque. After eating, we played volleyball, soccer, and splashed around in the refreshing water.

TEACHER LED ACTIVITIES

Our instructors enjoy introducing students to the local culture, so teachers frequently organize activities.

One instructor organized a group of 25 students to take a day-trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee to see the Aquarium and riverfront.

Another instructor led a group of about 30 students and teachers whitewater rafting in the Ocoee river in Tennessee.

In addition, instructors generally lead hikes in the nearby mountains once or twice per term.

We also plan in-town trips. For example, recently we have gone to Oglethorpe University's museum, a Tibetan dance performance, Stone Mountain's annual Halloween Ghost Storytelling event, and Six Flags, just to name a few.

POTLUCKS AND PARTIES

At the end of each term, we celebrate with an International potluck. We ask everyone to bring a dish from his or her country to the last day of classes and then we share. This is a little different during the October-December term when, instead of a lunch time potluck, the school hosts an evening party featuring food, music and dancing.
